FAQ

  • Hypnotherapy is a gentle process that enrolls your subconscious mind in your own healing. The process of hypnosis facilitates the relaxation of your conscious mind while simultaneously engaging and focusing your subconscious mind.

  • Hypnotherapy can bring numerous benefits to anyone interested in transforming some aspect of their life to improve their well-being. Whether you want to address aspects of stress in your life, anxiety, fears, habits that do not serve you, or beliefs that limit you, hypnotherapy can help!

  • The hypnosis session begins with a slow gradual transition so that you can get relaxed while taking you into a deeper state of relaxation. As your breathing and heart rate slows down, the brainwaves slow down as well. Your body is relaxed, your conscious mind is relaxed, and your subconscious mind becomes more readily accessible and available to help you.

    HOW DOES IT FEEL?

Hypnosis is a natural state that feels similar to that feeling you get right before you fall asleep at night. When you “awaken”, you feel refreshed and revitalized. Most people are mindful the entire time, aware of everything going on around them as well as what their unconscious is revealing to them.

WILL I FALL ASLEEP OR LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS?

When you are under hypnosis, you are not actually asleep, and will generally remain aware of what is happening in session. You will hear everything said during a session, even if you drift off or experience daydreams in this state. If you do fall asleep, the well-being related "suggestions" imparted during the session will still be absorbed into your subconscious mind.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A HYPNOTIC STATE?

Prior to hypnosis, your health goals and progress toward them are evaluated and suggestions that will support continued progress are discussed and agreed to between you and the hypnotherapist. You accept only the suggestions that are right for you. While under hypnosis, these suggestions will help you tap into unconscious insights and healing resources you may never have known to exist.

CAN I BE MADE TO DO THINGS I DON’T WANT TO DO?

No one can make you do or say anything you don’t want to do in or out of hypnosis. This is not mind control sometimes shown in the movies. Hypnotherapy is a gentle, loving process and hypnotherapists are trained to not judge. You will heal and change in alignment with your own timing.

CAN I GET STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?

No. The hypnotic state is relaxing and people say they wish they could stay there. But even if you drift off during the session, you will easily come back when the instructions for returning to conscious awareness are given.

  • In our first session together we will review your specific plan (developed in our initial consultation) and your goals for the hypnotherapy. Then we will dive right in to a session of hypnosis. You will be brought quickly to a relaxed hypnotic state and your active mind will be offered instructions to support you in achieving the outcomes you wish in your life. After the instructions have been given, you will be brought back, fully alert and energized, and ready to begin receiving the benefits of hypnotherapy.

  • The number of sessions required varies and will depend on various factors including your goals for the therapy and the severity of the obstacles preventing you from living your life as you would like. Typically, you can expect to have four to sixteen sessions for full effect. Many people begin receiving benefits from the very first session, which are built upon in subsequent sessions.
